Fights to death. And you may know about one famous one, Erin Bir versus Alexander Hamilton because – there’s a Broadway play about it. – Broadway play! A Broadway play about it! But, Link, you know about the other ones? Do you know about the other ones? It’s time to find out as we play: Can Link fill in the blanks in his musket with actual bullets? ‘Cause it’s duel time! Okay, Link, are you ready? (loud exhale) Yes, I’m ready to fill in blanks. – This is how this is gonna work. – Shootin’ blanks today! – I’ve got seven questions for you – Pow! Oh, you’re already intimidated. – (laughs) – And if you don’t get four out of seven, – I get that distinctive advantage. – Okay, okay. – Okay. – I also get the appreciation that we – no longer settle disputes with duels. – In 1808, two Frenchmen fell for the same woman. Instead of asking her who she might like to date, they let their shotguns decide. They also chose to take things to new heights by fighting their duel in blank. – New heights, huh? – There’s always a little bit of a hint – in the question so you’re not – And that was it? New heights. – flying blind! (laughs) Second hint! – Okay. So, they had a duel with shotguns in a spaceship. In an aircraft. Nope. – What year? – 1808. – A hot air balloon. – (ding sound) – You’re right, Link! That’s right! – Oh! That’s pretty point-blank range – for a shotgun. – Well, and let me tell ‘ya what they did. One of the guys got the bright idea, “You know what I’m gonna do? I’m just gonna shoot the hot air balloon.” And that’s what he did. The guy and his backup man that was in– And he had a (inaudible), for some reason, – Oh, of course. – in there with him. They both died. – (crew laughs) – Were they in two separate balloons? – Yeah. – ‘Cause then that’s a smart move. Otherwise, not. Alright! In 1806 a member of the British Parliament got a little tipsy and challenged the Earl of Barrymore to duel. The next day, the Earl of Barrymore called it off because the other guy showed up completely blank! – Nude. Nop– I didn’t say that out loud. – (crew laughs) I didn’t hear a hint in this one. I’ll take it. Yeah. I’ll take it. In 1843, in France, two men named Malfont and Lafont had a little too much to drink while playing pool at the bar. They weren’t at the pool bar. You can grow today. Go with your gut, Link. You’ve been right but wrong twice. It was a billiard ball. Malfont bragged that he would kill Lafont first throw and then he did. He threw the billiard ball and it hit him in the head – Right in the head? – and he died. – Wow. – In 1865, Wild Bill Hickock won the first ever quick draw duel. It was height. – (buzzer sound) – (everyone laughs) – I had to get you back, man. – You did that to me last game twice! – It was height! – So, it was height. – Alright. That’s fine. – so I’m gonna say that you’ve got – (ding sound) three and a half points.
