GMMore 2196: We Settle Your Sibling Rivalries

Welcome to Good Mythical More. We’re gon’ give it to ya! We gon’ give it to ya. Just like DMX. Oh yeah. We gon– Rhett and link gon’ give it to ya. Yep. That’s what he does. We gon’ give you solutions to your sibling rivalry problems. We asked you to submit your sibling rivalries to us and we’re gonna settle ’em, okay? I– But first, let’s do a new selfie face. Do it with that ’cause I don’t have my phone. Oh, yeah? I was just handed this. So you get to do the selfie this time. Oh, I’ve never done this before. This is– High angle! Well, I haven’t given you the prompt yet. What’s the prompt? “Completely forgot ‘Don’t run with scissors’ was a thing.” It’s like I did it. I ran with scissors into you. Okay. Get it? Yeah, it’s complex. That’s the joke. It’s like layers. It’s layered. It’s layers. Alright, let’s just look at that back. If you wanna see this, you just look right there. Don’t, no, don’t! Make, ’em go to social media to do it. Go to social media and do it. Go to social media. Alright. I’m gonna zoom in on my tongue. Make sure there’s not something on it. We’ve got siblings from the Internet. They’ve got disputes. I’m gonna read you a tweet, you’re gonna settle the argument. Get it? This sounds really fun. Oh, wow. That is a big tongue. It’s gonna be really fun. Let’s hear one. @MeMelissa16 or @MemeLisa16, it could go– Maybe that’s the cleverness to it. Me me Lisa. “My sis argued with me that this is not–” Let’s show the photo. “This is not the last step of the stairs. She said it’s part of the floor and not the last step, but I told her you have to step up to get to the floor because of the last step. IDK if that makes sense but we argued over five minutes. Hahaha, love you BTW.” Now, before you make your decision, I’ve already made it. They’ve also sent in a video. I don’t need the video. Well, I feel like we need to play the video, mostly because I just said they’ve also sent in a video. Yeah, ’cause you would look dumb. Yeah. Okay, so my sister and I started this dispute because I threw something, like, right here and I said, “Hey, your item or your clothing, jeans, is on the second to last step.” She was like, “No, this is the last step!” It is! And I say, “This is the last step because you have to step up one more to get onto the floor.” To get onto the floor and off the steps. You have to get off– But it’s still considered a step, because you step up. Get off, like, ifI say, “Get on the steps,” are you gonna step right here if I say, “Get on the steps?” No, you’re gonna step right here! So how are you gonna get down? By taking a step! A step onto the stairs! No! Onto the steps! This– Onto the steps! This is the last step! Onto the step! This is the last step, because you have to go up. Onto the step. You know what? Bye. I thought she was givin’ double birds there for a second. They’re a lively bunch, aren’t they? I would say– It’s funny, I had a strong opinion about this as soon as it happened, and then I got confused, and now I feel the complete opposite. I’m gonna say… Dating. Definitely, they’re definitely… Whoop whoop! I think the exact same thing happened to me. It’s the top. That top thing– Is not a step. Is a step. When I count steps, which I do every time I walk on steps, I always count that. I mean, when you count the steps, say, “How many steps?” You’re right about that. That’s how many steps you have to take, but the reason that that last one is not a step and it is the floor is because if I’m on what I would call the first step there, right? The first step going down, and just say I’m a little mouse, just to put it into perspective. And I’m walking around on the step and I go into the corner and you’re like, “Where are you?” I’m like, “I’m on the first step.” And then I go up to the top of the floor and I go to the corner of the room. Am I still on the step? No, I’m in the room, I’m on the floor! The floor is not a step. The first step is the next thing that you come to. That’s the first step. If you’re going up, you have to take one more step to get to the floor, but not one more step to get to the last step. Wait, so you’re saying– It’s not a step. It’s not a step. The floor is not a step, but it requires taking a step. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The verb and the noun are two different things, and that’s what’s confusing everybody here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You have to take a verb step to get to the floor, which is not a step. Think about construction is what I was gonna say. If you’re constructing a house or building, and you’re a constructor. This has a purpose. A mouse! I know where you’re going. You’re a mouse. You’re a mouse and you’re building a house. You build the floor, and that part is not part of the stairs that you build as stairs. So actually, technically it’s not part of the stairs. Here’s a perfect analogy. I’ve got two pieces of floor in the house that are, like, two steps apart, right? If I’m building it, I have to take a step that’s been built and I put the step in there and now how many steps are there there? There’s one step in terms of noun, but how many steps do I have to take to get to the next floor? Two. So this is why it’s confusing. So I don’t know how to answer the question of, like, if somebody says, “How many steps are in that house?” if I’m like, well, “If I’m just a person going up the steps, I have to take 15 steps to get to the top. But if I’m a person building steps, I only have to build 14 steps.” Well, now the question is, where’d you put my pants? Well, she says– I would say, if you said the top step, where would you look? You would look below the arrow. But if you said top of the stairs, She says– You would put on the arrow. “Not the last step of the stairs.” So the phrase is… The last step of the stairs. “Step of the stairs,” which would be a noun. Which would be a thing. I think you’d be able to spot the pants anyway. Yeah, I think you’ll just see the pants anyway. Well technically, actually they’re both correct, because one of them is saying, “Step,” and one of them is saying, “Step of the stairs.” It is the last step as a verb. ‘Cause you take the– Yes. It is not the last step as a noun is what we’re saying. Right? And I agree with that. So this is great. So we have an answer and they’re both right. Yeah, everybody’s right in this situation, You’re both right. You just never see eye to eye. Yeah. ‘Cause you’re not on the same level. You’re on different steps. This is from– Next one! @thesky_wizard. “My brother and I got into a legitimate fight over which is the superior fruit, strawberries or blueberries. I try not to bring it up anymore, lest it ruin our relationship. That being said, blueberries are the best. No hate on strawberries.” Why are we arguing this? “LOL, strawberry emoji, blueberry emoji.” I feel like we had this argument. I don’t know. I haven’t had this argu– I don’t think the strawberry versus blueberry argument, but I’ve heard you crap on both strawberries and blueberries for different reasons. Yeah, but… I don’t know which one you hate worse. I’m a blueberry boy. I prefer them. But you don’t eat blueberries by themselves. Yeah, yeah, I do. You used to tell me they were too mealy. Unless they’re milly. Milly. The superior fruit? How do they judge what’s the superior fruit? You gotta have the same assessment here. You gotta compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges when you’re talking about strawberries and blueberries. This is how I feel about this. I’m team blueberries. Strawberries can be both worse and better than blueberries. Yeah, but– A really, really good strawberry is something to just really appreciate. But from a nutrition standpoint, which is a super food? Blueberries. Blueberries. So they’re the superior nutritional food. Okay, well different categories. But in terms of just experience– And the chances of getting a perfect blueberry are much higher than getting a perfect strawberry. Agreed. So that’s another reason. But I’m saying that, if you’re talking about isolating the experience, so nothing about long term health– If you do find the best strawberry– That strawberry is better than the best blueberry. That strawberry is better than the best blueberry. So that’s one. But you’re more likely to choose a good blueberry than a good strawberry. But I’ve given two reasons. You’ve only given one. I think this is an un-answerable question. I think we discovered that. Blueberries are also better in a smoothie. Wait, I lost you. What are you two, blueberry? I’d eat blueberries every morning. I’m saying that– You both agree. On all the spectrum, a good strawberry is better than a good blueberry, but– Would you both agree– But a bad strawberry is worse than a bad blueberry. No. What? Do you both agree a good strawberry is better than a good blueberry? Nope, nope. Okay, you’re torn. You don’t think a strawberry is better than a blueberry? Nope. Have you ever had a really perfectly ripe strawberry? They don’t exist. Stevie, you know what I’m talking about? I will say this is such a subjective argument, whereas the first argument was like, I was into that. But there’s something– This doesn’t seem like something you should argue about. It’s like, you like blueberries, I like strawberries. Exactly. Hey, they both grow on Earth. I’ve given a lot more reasons to support my argument. So, I think it’s a superior fruit. Well, I’m not saying I disagree with you. I’m saying that I think it’s an un-answerable question, because strawberries can be better, that gives me a whole lot of faith in them, but more often a blueberry’s gonna be a better experience. And I don’t know if I’m choosing between those little moments or I’m choosing just the status quo. Yeah, you have to agree on that. And we can’t. We can’t. Because we’re not siblings, or dating, or strangers. We’re just friends. We’re just friends, man. Keeping it platonic. So, what is your advice to @thesky_wizard? Just don’t bring it up, or– You can put a blueberry inside of a raspberry, like Justin Timberlake. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Which is not a strawberry, I realize. But you can probably find a way with a little spoon to get out the meat of the strawberry and put a blueberry in there and y’all both shut up. Yeah, both of you shut up. Shut up where I’m turning this car around. That’s kind of what we we’re saying. Next! @Neon01598187: “Was telling my sister about GMM and how fascinating and good it is, and she said it’s boring.” Well, it’s like a strawberry and a blueberry. “The answer’s pretty simple here.” Who’s the strawberry and who’s the blueberry? Can we get… Where’s the answer? I’m looking for it. Can we get, like, a picture of your sister so we can make fun of, I don’t know, what she looks like? Just something really low blow type stuff, like we’ll just let her have it. I mean, you can do that on your own time. Just be insensitive. Do that on your personal association. Like, I just feel like I need to do that. But listen here’s the thing. Roast me, one of those things. Neon01598187… Boring, huh? If your sister finds us boring, then, to her, we are boring. That is the nature of the subjective experience. Now sometimes there are people who don’t like something and if you’re close enough to them or you understand something about them or the thing that you’re trying to get them to see in a new light, you can change their perspective and be like, “No, well watch this one,” or “Think about it like this,” and maybe something clicks. But if you’ve done that and they still are not compelled by it, then that particular thing is not a compelling experience for them. I wanna know what else– And that’s okay. What else she thinks is boring. Well, she could be trying to separate herself as her own person. ‘Cause you know, sometimes siblings do that. So she could actually not think it’s boring, but She’s lying to you. You know, she’s– To me, that’s the only possible explanation. Thank you. Maybe she likes the Try Guys. Right. Right. You know what I’m saying? Yeah. Sister needs more guys. Right, that’s it. We’re not enough guys. We’re just two guys. It’s kind of boring. Just two, there’s just two of us. We succeed too much. I mean, speaking of more guys… Yeah, you know what? Do you enjoy friendship as much as we do? The jury’s still out. You know what? Trevor. He’s been making so many friends over there on his podcast, “Trevor Talks Too Much,” that Chef Josh had to stop by to see how he does it. Because you know Josh has a difficult time making friends ’cause he comes on real strong and he talks about his very specific interests. Are you saying Josh– And interrupts you. Josh was a guest on “Trevor Talks Too Much”? Is that really what you’re trying to say? I believe that’s what happened, right? That’s what happened? That’s correct. That is what happened. That’s really all that happened. If you want to hear Mythical Chef Josh on Trevor’s podcast, it’s kind of like a role reversal, because Josh is, arguably, Trevor’s boss. I think that’s– Arguably? I think you could argue that. But then in this case it’s like, “Oh, now Trevor’s the boss.” I’m interested in that, like what happened? Right, yeah. It’s just like for season one of “Best Friends Back, Alright!” Yep. Stevie was the boss. That’s right. But in season two, when that comes out, Neagheen is gonna be the boss. Yep. Now, season one of “Best Friends Back, Alright!” where Stevie and Neagheen, neither one are the boss, is out. So you can just watch ’em. I mean, I keep saying, “Watch,” but you can listen to ’em. You can listen to ’em. You can listen to ’em. You can watch ’em with your ears. You can look at the speaker that the sound’s coming out of. You can watch us on @mythicalpods on TikTok. Yeah, yeah, there’s, like, Tiktoks. You can also get– Good little highlights. An audio visualizer. You seen those? Like the iTunes thing? Boy, when that came out on iTunes like 20 years ago… I watched it for a day. I would watch it, like, “Oh, this is so cool.” “I’m gonna go watch all my favorite songs.” Yeah. It got old kind of quick. It got old pretty fast. Wherever you get your podcasts, Those two shows are podcasts. Wherever you get your podcasts. @GracieTheBelle: “My twin tells me I stole the first spot because we were C-section.” “We were C-section,” okay. “They were on the way out of the birth canal when a complication came up and mom couldn’t deliver naturally, so when the doctors cut mom open, I was the first they grabbed. Did really steal the first twin spot?” Yes. Yes. You did. You definitely did, like… Yeah. You were probably holding onto her head, keeping her in, keeping her from going through the canal. Here’s the thing. If me and Link are inside of a house that’s on fire and we’re trying to exit the house and you get to the door. And I’m beating on it. And you’re gonna be the first one. But I can’t get out. Well, you open it just enough, but there’s a couch in the way. And so you just start, you stick– Yeah. Right. It’s a door shaped like this, okay? I know what it is. The door is shaped just like this. And you’re trying to– ‘Cause there’s a fire. And you’re like I’m stuck in the outside air, though. And right at that moment, somebody comes and takes the roof off of the house and takes me out. A fireman. A fireman. I stole the first spot. And then we have to take you. I mean, it wasn’t of your– Have to suck you back out. Of your own volition, yeah. And take you off’a the roof. Would you like another visual aid, Stevie? The twin’s only, you know– Yeah. The twin didn’t actively do anything. That’s the complicating thing. The twin was snatched and was the first born. But they didn’t resist! When the doctor grabbed them, they didn’t say, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!” He was first.” But what would it look like? That’s not possible, though. I talked in the womb. One of the first documented cases. I thought it was steal. I think there’s a better word than steal. What do you get with the first twin spot? What’s at stake here, I wonder? I think they’re generally smarter and more successful. Do they get the birthright? Well, I do think that’s a question people ask twins without any reasoning behind why they’re actually asking the question. Which one’s first? Who’s older? I think it’s fun to say… Jenna’s back here. She’s a twin. Yeah, and it matters, right? Oh, yeah. Are you older? I am. Yeah, see? I knew that. Well– Just based on your personality, I knew it. Jenna, do you feel that the spot was stolen? I mean, she just asserted her dominance in the relat– Like, I don’t see an issue. She didn’t assert anything. I was a C-section baby as well, and it was all my brother’s fault, but I got out first, still. Oh, really? So you’re in the same situation? Yeah. Was your brother… Oh no, he was an idiot who was upside down with the umbilical cord wrapped around him. Oh yeah, what a dork. Yeah, no. So, did your brother ever say that you stole his birthright? Oh no, absolutely not. We don’t fight like that. Well, you should bring it up. Oh, okay, cool. Well, she would be gloating. I think he would have to bring it up. I think it’s fun to say that it was stolen because then it raises a lot of questions and you have to start doing visual aids like he did. But I bet you, there is a psychological correlation between firstborn twins. Not because it actually means anything, but because being first born in our society has a connotation that people take and run with, and so twins naturally probably assume the role of the older sibling, even though it was just seconds before and doesn’t really matter. But hey, nature versus nurture, man. Is that kind of like when I became president of Mythical and you were the secretary? Exactly. And then I was the one– Because the lawyer asked me. I was on the phone with the lawyer and he was like, “One of you has to be president and one of you has to be VP and secretary.” Yeah. And I was like, “You’re asking me? I can’t make myself president. That’s a a-hole move!” I was like, “Link’s the president.” Ha! And then I just called you later. And I was like, “You’re the president of Mythical. How does that feel?” Feels like I stole it. And I’m like, “I’m the secretary.” What do you need, sir? You’re right, I’ve never let you live it down. Yeah, right. You stole that from me! Hey, we wanna let you know about a brand new podcast hosted by our very own Mythical Kitcheneer Trevor, called “Trevor Talks Too Much.” Check it out on Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
