Over 1700 episodes, millions of subscribers around the world, GMM brings a lot of joy to people everywhere. Umm, but it’s not easy. What makes it even particularly harder than other shows is that Rhett and Link have never once filmed an episode together. Yeah, you see, Rhett is what you might call an early bird. He likes to get ready for the show right away in the morning, get it done usually somewhere around 7:30 AM. Woo! Good morning everybody! Another day, another episode. Whereas Link likes to come in well rested and shoot GMM on his own time a little later, somewhere around, I don’t know, 10 AM. How’s today’s episode? Awesome! Good luck out there! Thank you! So we film them separately. Yeah, we have to shoot them at completely different times. Every episode. It’s awesome! Well, I wanna get the flavor but I didn’t want to get so much hotness that it impacts the snackage. They’ve taken the seeds out, it’s fine. Okay, as you can see here, I’ve got the, uh, the Rhett footage and there’s the Link ball. Just put green ball here and I just, just kinda get down. Hi, my name is Dolby Shephouser. I’m a visual effects artist here at Mythical. It is my job to marry the early morning Rhett footage with the late morning Link footage. My name is Jon Gultch. You can see me nights, I’m a roadie for the ’80s throwback band Rear-End Collision. But by days, you could say I’m pretty much Rhett and Link and also neither of them because of this puppy, uh, I call this thing Green Ball. I take the two and I just… woah! There he is! No more balls, just guys. No, that’s not too bad, that’s not too bad at all. Let’s just say that Rhett wants to dink with Link and then I’ll just kinda dink and sink. I know everything these guys say, I know everything they do, I know how they think. Now, it can get tricky. Check this out! Oops, see that! Link’s crossing the line. I don’t let that happen, I move over. That’s why I get paid the big bucks. Link’s pretty erratic, he’s kinda extra, pretty annoying. There it is! So lots of stick movement. Boop, boop, boop. Rhett’s kind of up here. He’s taller. It’s pretty much the only difference. He’s got a lot of pent-up, uh, aggression. So I like to capture that with just like a, an aggressive shake of the stick. That’s what I do. It’s just not easy. Oh, Dolby and Jon? Those guys are fantastic! We really wouldn’t be able to pull off this whole shooting at different times thing without them. No! Then again, if Rhett and Link would just shoot the show at the same time, we wouldn’t need Dolby and Gultch. Do I wish they’d shoot the show at the same time? Absolutely not! I got kids to feed and by kids, I mean my 9 pet rats named after the 96 Seattle Mariner starting lineup. Look, if they start shooting the dang show at the same dang time, dang I’m… Honestly, I’m fine with that because I mean, I could just be full-time roadie. There’s plenty of people who want a guy to wave a tennis ball around on a stick. Do I get to keep Green Ball? I got to keep, I got to keep him with me.
