For over a decade now, our lives have been on display. Yeah, we’ve been releasing videos since mid 2000s as Rhett & Link. So virtually everything about us is out there online. We have no secrets. Well, maybe we still have one secret. Rhett McLaughlin is a hologram. It’s common knowledge at this point that Rhett and I used to work as engineers, but the truth is I’m the one who was an engineer. I borrowed some top secret tech from my employer at the time, and I developed and created an elaborate hologram that our fans know as Rhett McLaughlin. Yeah. Yeah. I am well aware that Rhett as a hologram. At first, I couldn’t quite believe it because he seemed so real, but eventually I noticed the elaborate series of digital projectors and small computers that are around Rhett at all times. It’s kind of funny because everything you might see as a quirk of Rhett’s personality is actually just a mistake that I made in the process. I was originally trying to make a duplicate hologram of myself so that somebody could be at my desk while I was still at home sleeping but what came out was taller, hairier, uglier, not what I expected. Hello, my name is Dolby Shephouser, and I have the distinct honor of programming the Rhett hologram. I make it look very easy. It’s actually really tricky because it sort of has a mind of its own. There’s a lot of different factors. There’s a lot of things that could go wrong. For instance, last year I accidentally removed the hair link limiter and the holographic hair follicles have really been growing out of control. I personally think it looks horrible, but I can’t fix it. Hey, I’m Jon Gultch. I’m in charge of setting up Rhett hologram for each episode. And today we’re doing a hundred years, I don’t know something that they’ll take way too seriously. So we’re gonna see Rhett’s entire body which makes it pretty tricky. So I got to make sure that all of these projector placements are such that no one will cross in front of the projector because that will make Rhett disappear, which would really freak people out. So here in programming mode, you can see that we have a lot of flexibility and I’m just gonna go ahead and shut this thing down. The funny thing is Rhett doesn’t know that he’s a hologram and his artificial intelligence is pretty sensitive. So if he were to find out, I imagine he’d have an existential crisis and probably shut down forever. So don’t tell him in the comments that he’s a hologram. I’m a what? A good friend. What? Nothing.
