MK 494: The Most Underrated Regional Pizza

This is Bangor-style pizza, and it’s the most underrated regional pizza in all of America. Bangor is actually sister cities with St. Louis, which is why the crust is unleavened. Traditionally, you add slices of white American cheese produced in the nearby city Orono, and then that’s followed by a tangy white sauce. We’re just using store-bought yogurt today. Of course, Maine was actually where lobsters were first discovered back in 1587, so you add a whole lot of tail and claw meat right on top. It gets baked with a sprinkle of mozzarella at 500 degrees for about 16 minutes, and right out of the oven, this is where it really becomes Bangor-style. It gets topped with maple syrup and peanuts as an homage to the historic lumber industry. Cut it into squares and enjoy with a Moxie the official soft drink of Maine. Let’s take a bite. You got that crispy crust, that super tangy white sauce, the Orono-style American cheese, though. They produce the best American cheese in America. And then, of course, the Maine lobster, which isn’t actually from Maine. The light little bite of that maple syrup, you wouldn’t think it works, but this is truly incredible. Maine, you really outdone yourself this time.
